Brandywine Tops DuBois, Secures Top Seed In PSUAC Tournament

DUBOIS, Pa. – The Penn State Brandywine volleyball team locked up the No. 1 seed and right to host the PSUAC Tournament quarterfinal and semifinal rounds following a 3-1 (24-26, 25-19, 25-10, 25-15) victory at second-place Penn State DuBois on Sunday afternoon.

Brandywine, which won its 16th-straight match, will receive a bye through Friday's quarterfinal round and will face either the No. 4 or No. 5 seed on Saturday afternoon on its home court. The two semifinal winners will battle in Rec Hall for the PSUAC title on Oct. 31.

The Lions (22-2, 15-0 PSUAC) produced a season-best 15 blocks, with six coming from Rikelle Taylor (Nottingham, Pa./Solanco) and four by Sullivan Stark (Middletown, Del./William Penn). Stark also handed out a season-high 45 assists and tallied three digs, while Taylor posted four kills.

Nikki Poissant (Aston, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) produced 15 kills and a pair of aces. Margot Gargus (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) added 10 kills and three service aces, while Nicolette Napoleon (Springfield, Pa./Penn Charter) registered seven kills.

Becca Civera (Boothwyn, Pa./Chichester) paced Brandywine by recording five aces and 13 digs. Poissant amassed 10 digs and Gargus collected nine, while Lauren Kelly (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) totaled five.

Before hosting the conference tournament next weekend, Brandywine closes out the regular season with a home match against Penn State York at 7:00 pm on Tuesday.
