Lions Finish Out Perfect PSUAC Regular-Season Slate

MEDIA, Pa. -- For the second time in three years, Penn State Brandywine has produced an undefeated conference record as the Lions finished out their Penn State University Athletic Conference volleyball slate with a 16-0 mark following a 3-0 victory (25-4, 25-6, 25-10) over Penn State York on Tuesday night.

The Lions will enter the PSUAC Tournament eyeing their second conference title in three years as the No. 1 seed and host for the first two rounds. Brandywine will receive a bye through Friday's quarterfinals and play an opponent to be determined on Saturday in the semifinal round at 2:00 pm. Brandywine capped the regular season with a 23-2 overall record having won its final 17 matches.

Margot Gargus (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) paced all players on Tuesday night with nine kills and accumulated eight of Brandywine's 29 aces. Sullivan Stark (Middletown, Del./William Penn) also collected eight service aces and dealt out 20 assists.

Nikki Poissant (Aston, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) added six kills and five digs, while Nicolette Napoleon (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) tallied four kills, three aces and two digs. Randi Gassaway (Detroit, Mich./East English Village Prep) totaled five aces and four digs and Hannah Sarafinas (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) recorded three aces.

Brandywine opened up a 21-1 lead during the first set and never looked back en route to a 21-point triumph to take a 1-0 lead. The Lions scored eight of the final nine points of the second set to win it 25-6 and then ended the match with nine-straight points to complete the sweep.
