Napoleon Named PSUAC East Player Of The Year; Joined By Miles On All-Conference Teams

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine senior Nicolette Napoleon (Springfield, Pa./Penn Charter) was named Penn State University Athletic Conference Volleyball East Player of the Year and earned First Team All-PSUAC honors, while freshman setter Julia Miles (Boothwyn, Pa./Chichester) claimed honorable mention all-conference honors.

Napoleon enjoyed a standout senior campaign, setting career highs in kills, aces and digs this year. One of two players to appear in all 32 matches for Brandywine, Napoleon topped the team in kills and aces and tied for second in digs.

Napoleon amassed 243 kills, averaging over 2.0 per set. That total was the highest in the PSUAC East and fifth-most overall in the league. Napoleon's 72 service aces stood second overall in the PSUAC. She produced at least five aces on six occasions this fall, tallying a career-best 11 against Penn State Scranton on Oct. 9. Napoleon also tied with teammate Sydney Stevens (Wilmington, Del./Alexis I. DuPont) for 10th in the conference in digs by registering 245. Twelve times Napoleon reached double figures in digs, including a season-high 18 against Cedar Crest on Oct. 7.

In four years at Brandywine, Napoleon competed in 101 matches for the Lions. She produced 535 kills, 394 digs and 148 aces during her career.

Miles honorable mention selection gives Brandywine an all-conference setter for the fifth-straight season. She finished the year with 480 assists, finishing fourth in the conference, while averaging 4.62 assists per set. Miles reached the 20-assist mark 10 times and dished out 30 assists three times, including a season-best 34 against Penn State Scranton in September.

Miles also collected 232 digs, the fifth-highest total on the team, 47 aces and 56 kills in 31 matches.

In addition, Stevens earned the John Fritz Sportsmanship Award from the conference. Named after former PSUAC Commissioner John Fritz, the sportsmanship award is given to one player from each team in the league who best displays the core values of the league and sportsmanship to teammates and opponents throughout the season. Stevens played in 28 matches during her freshman season, compiling 245 digs, 66 aces and 54 kills.

Brandywine finished the season 17-15 overall, reaching the PSUAC Tournament semifinals for the seventh-straight year.
