2019 Volleyball Schedule Unveiled

MEDIA, Pa. -- Third-year head volleyball coach Fabiana Scavicchio-Fields announced her team's schedule on Wednesday as Penn State Brandywine heads into the 2019 season.

Penn State Brandywine has 25 matches on the slate, including 12 against Penn State University Athletic Conference East Division rivals, four crossover matches against the PSUAC West and nine non-conference bouts versus NCAA Division III foes.

Here is a look at some of the notable dates and opponents:

Aug. 31 at Goucher: Brandywine opens the season on the road in Baltimore with its first-ever meeting against Goucher. The match will be the first of 17-straight on the road to begin the season for the Lions, who will look to start 1-0 for the fourth time in the last five years.

Sept. 11 at Penn State Hazleton: The Lions begin the conference schedule on the road at Hazleton. Brandywine, one of seven teams in the PSUAC East, has not lost to a divisional opponent since 2011, winning 66-straight matches. Brandywine was 12-0 in league play during the 2018 season.

Sept. 20 at Ursinus: Scavicchio-Fields faces a familiar opponent as Ursinus is coached by her younger sister, Cecily. When the teams met last season, Ursinus got the better of Brandywine, winning in straight sets.

Sept. 28-29 vs. PSUAC West (Crossover Weekend): The conference's second-annual Crossover Weekend pits the East Division against the West Division. Brandywine will play four matches over two days against teams from the West. Opponents, times and location will be announced later this summer.

Oct. 5 vs. Penn State Lehigh Valley, Penn State Schuylkill, Penn State Wilkes-Barre (Dig Pink Weekend): Brandywine will host a quad match for its ninth Dig Pink Weekend. The team will sport its pink, while raising money and awareness for breast cancer research through its partnership with the Side-Out Foundation.
