Brandywine Bounces Back To Beat Lehigh Valley

ALLENTOWN, Pa. -- Three days after suffering its first conference loss in nearly three years, the Penn State Brandywine volleyball team dropped the first set, but rallied to knock off Penn State Lehigh Valley 3-1 (18-25, 25-15, 25-23, 25-22) on Sunday afternoon.

Brandywine, now 3-1 in the Penn State University Athletic Conference and 4-7 overall, received 10 kills from Brandi James (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro), while Hannah Sarafinas (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) recorded eight kills. Rebecca Gonzalez (Clearwater, Fla./Washburn Academy) collected 28 assists.

The Lions recorded 12 service aces with four coming from Alsatia Haas-Tome (Norwood, Pa./Interboro) and three by Sarafinas.

Gianna Anthony (Newtown Square, Pa./Sacred Heart Academy) led the Lions with 12 digs, while James and Amanda Floyd (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) both had five.

Rikelle Taylor (Nottingham, Pa./Solanco) registered four of Brandywine's 11 blocks. Gonzalez tallied three and Sarafinas and Hope Coacher (Ardmore, Pa./Haverford) both totaled two blocks.

Brandywine continues conference play Tuesday on the road at Penn State York (7:00 pm).
