Two-time PSUAC Coach of the Year Melissa Algeo begins her eighth season with the Lions in 2017.

Algeo owns a record of 127-56, including a 95-19 mark against PSUAC competition, through the 2016 season. The 2015 and 2012 PSUAC Coach of the Year has guided the Lions to six conference tournament berths, including three-straight appearances in the league's championship match from 2013-15.

Brandywine finished the 2016 season with a record of 18-8, reaching the PSUAC Tournament semifinals. The Lions, who finished in second place during the regular season, were led by Nikki Poissant, one-of-four all-conference honorees, who was named PSUAC Player of the Year and Second Team All-American.

Brandywine enjoyed its finest season in program history in 2015, capturing the PSUAC title for the first time, while making its first-ever appearance at the USCAA Tournament. Brandywine finished the year with a 21-6 record, tying the 2014 team for single-season victories. Setter Miranda Biondi became Brandywine volleyball's first USCAA All-American, USCAA Student-Athlete of the Year and PSUAC Player of the Year

Under Algeo’s direction, seven Lion volleyball players have earned USCAA National Academic Team awards and 35 student-athletes have garnered academic all-conference recognition. Biondi was also recognized on the Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District Team in 2014, becoming the first female student-athlete from Brandywine to receive the honor.

The 2014 team set a program record with 21 victories, later tied by the 2015 squad, and advanced to the PSUAC title game as the No. 2 seed. Four players earned all-conference accolades. Through the 2016 season, 20 student-athletes have claimed all-PSUAC honors over the last five years.

Algeo is a graduate of Unionville High School (2002) and Savannah College of Art & Design (2006) with a bachelor of arts degree in graphic design. During her scholastic career, Algeo played volleyball at all levels, middle school through college, as a setter and served as team captain.

Algeo and her husband, Ryan, are the proud parents of three-year-old son, Doug.
