Anya Tyler Captures USCAA Runner Of The Week Honors

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine freshman Anya Tyler (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) was named national runner of the week by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association on Wednesday.

Tyler led the Lions at the season-opening Bryn Mawr Invitational last Thursday as she set a school 5K record by crossing the finish line in 22:14. Her time was nearly two minutes faster than the previous record set by Robyn Gannon last year at the Greater Allegheny Invitational (24:11).

In a field of 92 runners, nearly all NCAA Division III student-athletes, Tyler placed 18th during her first collegiate race.

The Brandywine cross country teams will compete at the Cairn Highlander Invitational on Saturday beginning at noon.
