Cross Country Races At Rowan

GLASSBORO, N.J. -- The Penn State Brandywine cross country teams competed at the Rowan Inter-Regional Border Battle on Saturday afternoon, the largest college cross country meet ever held in the state of New Jersey with over 1,400 participants.

The Brandywine men finished 21st as a team in the 8K open race, while four Brandywine women were led by freshman Anya Tyler (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East), who placed 84th in the 167-runner women's open field.

Tyler ran to a 6K time of 25:30, topping her own school record set in September by 25 seconds. She now owns the top three 6K times in program history.

Brooke Theveny (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) completed the race in 33:36, while Angelica Rivers (Philadelphia, Pa./W.B. Saul) crossed the line 22 seconds after Theveny and Meredith Simpson (Wenonah, N.J./Ursuline Academy) ran to a time of 45:11.

On the men's side, John Li (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby) paced the Lions with an 8K time of 30:07, placing him 191st. Alex Troncelliti (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) was five places behind Li with a time of 30:26, topping his previous season-best time by 1:21.

Henry Lee (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby) ran to a time of 33:35, while Isaiah Gordon (Chester, Pa./Chichester) finished in 35:30 and James Uyanna (Philadelphia, Pa./John Bartum) crossed the finish line in 41:28.

Brandywine competes in its final tune-up prior to the PSUAC Championships on Friday at the Haverford Invitational at 5:00 pm.
