Men’s Cross County Finishes Fifth At Rose Tree Park In Season-Opening Meet

MEDIA, Pa. – The Penn State Brandywine men's cross country team ran to fifth place in a field of nine teams, primarily NCAA Division III squads, while a pair of runners competed for the women's team during the season-opening Bryn Mawr Invitational on Friday evening.

Brendan Cleary (Chadds Ford, Pa./Garnet Valley) was the first Brandywine male runner to cross the finish line, taking 38th with a time of 18:59 on the 5K course. David Fielding (West Chester, Pa./Salesianum) was two places behind Cleary by running the course in 19:04.

John Li's (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby) time of 19:21 was good for 45th place. Luke Dixon (Wayne, Pa./Radnor) and Steve Milnes (West Chester, Pa./Central Bucks South) finished back-to-back in 63rd and 64th places, respectively. Dixon turned in a time of 21:09, while Milnes ran the race in 21:16.

Ursinus won the men's overall team title with a low of 18 points, while Brandywine totaled 172 points, besting Valley Forge Military by nine points for fifth place. Ursinus' James McDade took home individual medalist honors.

On the women's side, A'Nasia Love (Philadelphia, Pa./Parkway Center) finished her first collegiate race in 56th place with a time of 26:01. Brooke Theveny (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) was just behind Love in 58th place (26:33).

The Brandywine cross country teams compete in the Cheyney Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 9 at 10:00 AM.
