Two Brandywine Runners Qualify For Nationals At PSUAC Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. -- A pair of Penn State Brandywine cross country runners have qualified for the USCAA National Championships as the Lions ran at the Penn State University Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday afternoon at Penn State Mont Alto.

Junior John Li (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby) qualified for the national meet for the third-straight year after posting an eighth-place finish in the 31-runner men's race. Li ran the 8K course in a time of 32:36.

Also earning a spot at nationals was freshman A'Nasia Love (Trenton, N.J./Trenton Central). Love was the eighth woman to finish the 6K race, running to a time of 33:40. Love will be the first Brandywine woman to compete at the USCAA Championship since 2015 when the Lions won the PSUAC Women's Cross Country Championship and competed as a team.

Li and Love both earned second team all-conference honors following the races. In addition, Love and freshman men's runner Brendan Cleary (Chadds Ford, Pa./Garnet Valley) were selected as Brandywine's John Fritz Sportsmanship Award winners. The award is named for former PSUAC Comissioner John Fritz and recognizes those who have displayed the foundations that the PSUAC was built on and dispayed great sportsmanship toward teammates and competitors throughout the season.

Also competing for Brandywine on Saturday were freshmen Steve Milnes (West Chester, Pa./Central Bucks South) and Luke Dixon (Wayne, Pa./Radnor). Milnes posted a time of 36:10, placing 16th, while Dixon finished 21st in a time of 38:41.

Penn State Fayette won the men's team championship, while Penn State Schuylkill was crowned women's team champion.

The USCAA National Championships will take place in Virginia Beach, Va., on Nov. 10.
