Three Brandywine Cross Country Runners Race At National Championships

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – A trio of Penn State Brandywine cross country runners competed at the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships on Friday morning in Virginia Beach.

Representing the Brandywine women's team was freshman A'Nasia Love (Trenton, N.J./Trenton Central). Love ran the 6K race in 32:47, finishing 96th overall in the 125-runner field. Her time bested her previous personal-best 6K mark of 33:40 by 53 seconds, which she ran at the Penn State University Athletic Conference Championships in October, while earning second team all-conference honors.

Brandywine sent a pair of men's runners to the national championships and both finished near the middle of the pack.

Freshman Brendan Cleary (Chadds Ford, Pa./Garnet Valley) was the first Lion to cross the finish line, posting a time of 31:31. In the 8K field of 166 competitors, Cleary posted a 78th-place showing.

For the third consecutive year, junior John Li (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby) qualified to run at the national meet. A three-time all-PSUAC standout, Li finished 86th with a time of 31:46.

The SUNY Delhi men and Cleary University women both repeated as USCAA national champions. Individually, Delhi's Kobie Lane won the men's title, while Cleary's Madison Paquette claimed the women's crown.
