Class of 2023

Mary Varano Zecca was one of the first three-sport student-athletes to compete at Penn State Delco. From 1989-91, Varano Zecca competed on the women's basketball, tennis and volleyball teams.

Varano Zecca, the first-ever female student-athlete from Delco to earn the John S. Egli Scholar-Athlete Award, helped the volleyball team to its first-ever winning record and led the women's basketball team to a berth in the conference tournament semifinals during her sophomore season. She was also a member of the CCAC championship-winning tennis team.

After graduating from Penn State, Varano Zecca returned to campus as the head women's basketball coach for two seasons, guiding the Lions to 14 victories and the CCAC championship game in 1994-95.
