Brandywine Places 45 Student-Athletes On PSUAC Fall All-Academic Team

MEDIA, Pa. -- Forty-five student-athletes from Penn State Brandywine's six fall sports were named to the Penn State University Athletic Conference All-Academic Team following the conclusion of the fall semester.

The 45 honorees represented Brandywine's highest fall total in its history with nearly 60 percent of the 77 student-athletes receiving recognition.

To earn a place on the PSUAC All-Academic Team, student-athletes must amass a minimum GPA of 3.0 during their semester of competition or own a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater and be at least a sophomore in both their academic and athletic standing.

Three fall teams (men's cross country, women's cross country, golf) posted a cumulative GPA greater than 3.20.

Men's soccer topped all squads with 16 selections, while women's soccer saw 10 players earn honors and volleyball placed eight on the academic team. Six cross country runners (four men, two women) landed laurels, along with five members of the golf team.

Included among the honorees were USCAA Women's Soccer Player of the Year Brianna Banks, PSUAC Women's Cross Country champion Catharine Mooney and PSUAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Year Axel Ayllon-Ortiz.

Three student-athletes claimed a perfect 4.0 GPA during the semester (Brianna Banks, Brian Abel and Stevie DiSipio) and 28 produced a grade-point average of 3.50 or greater to also earn Dean's List honors from the University.

Brandywine concluded another successful fall on the field with conference championships in men's and women's soccer as well as Mooney's individual conference title in women's cross country. All six teams competed in the postseason, while 22 received all-conference recognition and 12 student-athletes were honored as USCAA All-Americans.

Overall, 14 of Brandywine's 16 teams recorded a cumulative GPA greater than 3.0 and its 158 student-athletes combined for a 3.04 grade-point average during the fall semester.
