Penn State Brandywine Athletics COVID-19 Update

Statement from OVPCC regarding intercollegiate athletics on campuses:

Penn State University and the Office of the Vice President for Commonwealth Campuses have been closely monitoring the recent developments related to the coronavirus and its impact on our students at all Penn State campuses.

After careful review, and in an effort to minimize the potential spread of the coronavirus, OVPCC has determined it is in the best interests of our student-athletes, coaches, staff and fans to indefinitely suspend all athletic-related activities.  Effectively immediately, all Commonwealth Campus intercollegiate athletics activities shall cease.  During this suspension of athletic activities, no athletic contests, practices or training will take place, including at non-University affiliated facilities.  Student-athletes are expected to continue with academic progress as University and national organization eligibility standards for current and future semesters will apply.

Individual campuses shall make necessary arrangements and/or accommodations for teams returning from Spring Break trips.

As instructed by President Barron, all undergraduate and graduate students at all campus locations are strongly discouraged from returning to campus, off-campus locations, and group dwellings (e.g., apartments), and should return to, or remain at, home during this time period.  This period of time is for remote learning rather than an extended Spring Break.

OVPCC will continue to monitor this fluid situation and will provide updates should current plans need adjusting. Additionally, Penn State University has several resources available to provide updates and information related to the coronavirus, including psu.edu/virusinfo and psu.edu/virusinfo/faq.
