Brandywine Runs Away With 11-1 Victory Over Scranton

ASTON, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine's offense produced 20 hits and the Lions notched seven runs in the seventh inning to capture an 11-1 Penn State University Athletic Conference baseball triumph over Penn State Scranton on Friday night.

Nick Wright (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley), Tyler Brooks (Oxford, Pa./Oxford) and Kyle Oechsle (Coopersburg, Pa./Palisades) all produced four-hit nights for the Lions. Wright drove in three runs, while Clark knocked in two and scored twice.

Jack Hedger (Oxford, Pa./Oxford) added two hits and an RBI and Toby Skeans (Stevensville, Md./Kent Island) crossed home three times.

Connor Thompson (Finksburg, Md./Westminster) allowed a first-inning run, but shut down the Scranton offense the rest of the way to earn his third victory of the year. He fanned a career-high 10 batters in seven innings on the mound, while yielding three hits.

Brandywine got on the board for the first time in the third inning when Wright scored Skeans with a base hit.

The Lions added single runs during each of the next three frames. Shawn Webb (Drexel Hill, Pa./Bonner-Prendie) tripled and scored on a wild pitch in the fourth, while Oechsle's base hit plated Clark in the fifth and Skeans crossed home when Wright singled in the sixth.

Brandywine busted the game open by adding seven runs on six hits during the seventh inning. Hedger started the scoring with an RBI single, while Skeans forced in a run by working a bases-loaded walk. Clark singled in two more runs and Wright and Brooks each added run-scoring base hits.

Brandywine (10-9, 6-2 PSUAC) visits Scranton for the final two games of the three-game series Tuesday at 2:00 PM.
