USCAA Selects Fisher National Player Of The Week

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine senior guard James Fisher (Philadelphia, Pa./Upper Darby) was named men's basketball player of the week by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association on Tuesday.

Fisher, who helped Brandywine to a 1-1 week against NCAA Division III opponents, knocked down 15 three-pointers, while averaging 23.5 points per outing.

Against Haverford, Fisher connected on 7-of-15 three-point attempts, scoring a team-high 23 points, along with five steals and three rebounds. Two days later, he tied the program's single-game three-point record with eight triples during the Lions' 96-88 victory over Bryn Athyn. Fisher previously buried eight three-pointers as a sophomore in 2014, while Kyle Hagerty (2008) and Michael Menichini (1996) had also made eight trifectas in a game for the Lions.

The team's leading scorer, Fisher is averaging 16.5 points per game. He is shooting 44 percent from beyond the arc, while ranking second in the Penn State University Athletic Conference with 46 three-pointers overall. Fisher also leads the conference and is tied for sixth nationally in steals per game (2.6).

With his 47-point week, Fisher moved into fourth place in scoring all-time at Brandywine. He owns 1,085 points during 76 career games.

Brandywine opens a stretch of three games in four days on Friday when the Lions travel to Penn State DuBois for an 8:00 pm matchup.
