Brandywine Drops Regular-Season Finale In Overtime

RAMAPO, N.J. -- The Penn State Brandywine men's soccer team saw its 11-game winning streak come to an end in overtime, falling 2-1 at Berkeley (N.J.) on Tuesday afternoon.

Brandywine took a 1-0 lead during the 12th minute on a goal by Gavin Birch (Media, Pa./Strath Haven) and held that one-goal edge until the 83rd minute as Berkeley knotted the score with a goal from Christopher Azeevedo.

Just past the midpoint of the extra session, Berkeley found the game-winning goal off the foot of Matthew DaCosta.

Juan Guerrero (Kennett Square, Pa./Kennett) made four stops in net, but saw his shutout streak come to an end after eight-straight appearances. The Lions were outshot 6-4 by the Knights overall.

Brandywine will be the No. 1 seed in the PSUAC Tournament as the Lions pursue their fourth-straight conference title. Brandywine will host a semifinal match Saturday at 5:30 pm against either Penn State Lehigh Valley or Penn State Mont Alto.
