Brandywine Drops 7-2 Decision To Neumann

ASTON, Pa. – The Penn State Brandywine men's tennis team continued its busy week of action on the road as the Lions were defeated 7-2 by Neumann University on Wednesday afternoon.

Wenceslao Lara (North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick Twp.) was a winner in both singles and doubles to lead the Lions. He claimed his No. 2 singles matchup by a 6-1, 6-3 count after teaming with Victor Ficarra (Glenmoore, Pa./Downingtown STEM Academy) to win a doubles bout. The duo combined for an 8-3 triumph at second-flight doubles.

Ficarra was edged out in his fourth-flight singles match, falling 7-5, 6-4, while Ian Lillard (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) won the first set of his No. 5 singles match 6-1, but Neumann's John Beck rallied to win the next two frames and claim the match. Overall, the Knights won two-of-three doubles contests and five-of-six singles matchups.

Brandywine (2-2) is at home Thursday to face Delaware Valley at 2:00 pm.
