Brandywine Track Teams Return To Action At Ursinus

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – After more than one month away from competition, the Penn State Brandywine men's and women's track and field teams were back in action Saturday at the Collegeville Classic hosted by Ursinus College.

The men's team finished 20th in the field of 24 teams after its distance medley team claimed fifth place, earning all six of the Lions' points.

Individually, John Li (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby) posted Brandywine's top finish of the day, running to 11th in the 5,000-meter race with a time of 18:33.05.

Four Lions ran the 800-meter sprint, topped by Brian Abel (Amesbury, Mass./Amesbury), who took 20th with a time of 2:12.41. Ryan Cassidy (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) was seven spots behind Abel (2:18.13), while David Irby (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) ran to a time of 2:29.32 and Brendan Cleary (Chadds Ford, Pa./Garnet Valley) crossed the line in 2:31.01. Irby also ran in the one-mile race, posting a time of 5:37.75.

At 400 meters, Daniel Zimmerman (Cheyney, Pa./Rustin) completed the sprint in 1:02.95, while Jhade Gibson (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby) finished in 30.33 seconds at 200 meters for the Brandywine women.

Anmol Singh (Upper Merion, Pa./King of Prussia) posted a long throw of 8.57 meters in the shot put to finished 29th, while Jose Campos (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) was 32nd after heaving the shot put 7.13 meters.

Brandywine travels to Haverford College for the Bill McElligott Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 26.
