Brandywine Claims Six Top-10 Showings at Elizabethtown

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The Penn State Brandywine women's track and field team claimed 14th place, while the men's squad was 15th as six individuals placed in the top 10 at the Blue Jay Tune-Up hosted by Elizabethtown College on Saturday.

Catharine Mooney (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) accumulated all six of the women's points during the 400-meter dash, taking third in a field of 18 with a time of 1:03.70. Mooney also posted a top-10 finish in the 800-meter run, completing the 28-runner field in 2:34.54. Both of Mooney's times were the second-fastest at their respective distances in Brandywine history.

Ryan Cassidy (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) ran to third place during the 3,000-meter steeplechase, earning the men's team six points. He ran to a time of 12:07.30.

Daniel Zimmerman (Cheyney, Pa./Rustin) landed the final point of the day for the Brandywine men, running to eighth place at 400 meters (58.11 seconds). Zimmerman also clocked in at 25.24 seconds during the 200-meter sprint.

John Li (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby) and Brendan Cleary (Chadds Ford, Pa./Garnet Valley) both finished in the top 10 of the 5,000-meter run. Li's time of 18:04.75 was sixth-fastest, while Cleary placed ninth in 19:27.33.

In addition for the Brandywine men, Sam Dikeumunna (Chichester, Pa./Chichester) ran the 1,500-meter race in 4:58.79 and completed the 800-meter run in 2:18.10.

Anmol Singh (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion) paced two Lions during the shot put with a long heave of 8.95 meters. Tyler Lyon (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) posted a distance of 8.55 meters with his longest throw and also placed 17th during the discus with a toss of 27.34 meters.

The duo of Lyon and Singh also competed in the javelin throw. Lyon posted his long throw at 34.68 meters and Singh tossed the javelin 30.31 meters.

Brandywine wraps up the 2019 season on Friday at the Jim Thorpe Open in State College.
