Two Team Records Broken As Brandywine’s Indoor Season Concludes At Penn State

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Tyler Lyon (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) and Nwabueze Onyemachi (Aldan, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) both set a team record to pace the Penn State Brandywine track and field teams at the Lions' indoor finale Friday afternoon at the Penn State Tune-Up.

Onyemachi broke his own program mark in the 200-meter sprint, finishing in 23.60 seconds, nearly a half-second faster than his previous record set earlier this winter at Alvernia. Onyemachi placed ninth overall.

Lyon was seventh in the shot put, while breaking his own record. Lyon recorded a long throw of 10.83 meters and now owns the top three throws in the team's history.

Onyemachi also posted a seventh-place finish during the 60-meter sprint (7.40 seconds), while Luca D'Aprano (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) set a personal best at 200 meters, finishing in 26.90 seconds. D'Aprano was the fifth runner to cross the line during the 400-meter run, tallying a time of 1:10.59.

Angel Asomugha (Brookhaven, Pa./Sun Valley) represented the Brandywine women's team, finishing fourth at 800 meters in a time of 3:14.59.

Brandywine begins the outdoor season March 27 at Widener's Danny Curran Invitational.
