Cross Country Teams Announce 2019 Schedule

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine head cross country and track and field coach Tim Sanville announced the Lions' cross country schedule on Wednesday. The 2019 slate features five regular-season meets followed by the conference and national championship meets in late fall.

Brandywine opens the season at Delaware Valley on Saturday, August 31. Sophomore Brian Abel is the defending invitational champion after becoming the first Brandywine runner to ever claim an individual title. Classmate Catharine Mooney was the women's runner-up at Delaware Valley last September during her college debut.

One week later, Brandywine heads to Lebanon Valley College for the Dutchmen Invitational and then competes at Goldey Beacom on Friday, September 20.

The Lions host the Penn State Brandywine Invitational on September 28 on their home course, which has seen major upgrades to the 8K and 6K courses during the last year.

Brandywine closes out the regular season on October 5 at Salisbury's Don Cathcart Invitational. Abel set the program's 8K record at last year's meet in Maryland.

The Penn State University Athletic Conference Championships return to Norlo Park in Fayetteville, Pa., where Brandywine's women look to win their first league title since 2015 and the men aim for their first-ever conference crown.

The United States Collegiate Athletic Association National Championships are set for November 8 and will be held at the Princess Anne Sports Complex in Virginia Beach, Va., for the fourth consecutive year.
