Brandywine Cross Country Begins Season At Osprey Open

MEDIA, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine cross country teams got their fall season underway Friday evening at Stockton University's Osprey Open.

Kevin O'Neill (Morton, Pa./Springfield) paced the Brandywine men by placing 72nd during the 5K race. In a field of 93 competitors, O'Neill posted a time of 20:05. Leading the Brandywine women was Liala Kanan (Schenectady, N.Y./Schenectady), who took 71st of 91 runners in a time of 26:09.

Jack McDougall (Glen Mills, Pa./Rustin) was just behind O'Neill, crossing the line in a time of 20:11, while Darryl Osei (Glenolden, Pa./Bonner-Prendie) posted a mark of 20:42. Abu Mattia (Yeadon, Pa./Penn Wood) ran to a time of 23:34 and Tewahido Agonafir (Philadelphia, Pa./Academy at Palumbo) raced to a 24:08 mark. Rounding out the Lion men was Christian Zita (Freehold, N.J./Colts Neck), who finished the run in 25:42.

On the women's side, Lauren Husain (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) crossed the finish line in 28:43, while Alicia Wesley (Fredericksburg, Va./Massaponax) tallied a mark of 42:55.

Brandywine will be in Delaware next Friday for the Goldey Beacom Classic beginning at 9:00 AM.
