Brandywine Softball Announces 2019 Schedule

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine, the four-time defending Penn State University Athletic Conference champion under sixth-year Head Coach Mark Caserta, released its 2019 schedule on Friday.

COMPLETE 2019 SCHEDULE

Coming off a school-record 27-win season and third consecutive top-five finish at the USCAA World Series, this year's slate includes 20 conference contests and 16 matchups with NCAA Division III opponents among the 38 games on the slate.

The year opens with eight non-conference games against some of the top Division III teams from around the country in the team's annual visit to The Spring Games in Clermont, Fla., during Spring Break. Beginning March 2, Brandywine will play games against first-time opponents Johnson & Wales (R.I.), the University of New England, DeSales, Emmanuel (Mass.), Wittenberg, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Carthage. The Lions will also face Saint Vincent College for the second time in three years, having dropped a 14-5 decision to the Bearcats in 2017.

Non-conference matchups continue when the team returns from Florida on March 16 for a road doubleheader at Swarthmore during the teams' first-ever meeting.

Four games with Penn State Schuylkill signals the start of PSUAC play as the Lions host a twin bill on March 22 and play at Schuylkill one day later. Brandywine defeated Schuylkill 14-2 in the championship game of the PSUAC Tournament in 2018.

Trips to King's College (Mar. 26) and Delaware Valley University (Apr. 2) are sandwiched around four contests against Penn State Wilkes Barre on March 29-30. The Lions then battle rival Penn State Hazleton at home on April 4 and again on the road two days later.

Brandywine's lone non-conference home doubleheader is scheduled for April 9 against Stratford, the first of four-straight home games. York visits Brandywine April 11 and the teams conclude their four-game series April 13 in York.

The Lions' final non-conference game comes April 16 at Cedar Crest College before ending the season with a home-and-home series against Penn State Scranton, beginning April 19 in Dunmore. Scranton travels to Brandywine three days later for both teams' regular-season finale.

Penn State DuBois will serve as the host of the PSUAC Tournament (May 5-6) and for the USCAA World Series (May 12-16) for the second-straight year.
