Banks, Ritz Earn Player Of The Week Honors

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine senior Brianna Banks (Philadelphia, Pa./Parkway Center) was selected as the USCAA and PSUAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week, while freshman goalkeeper Zachary Ritz (Woodlyn, Pa./Ridley) was tabbed as the PSUAC Men's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week on Wednesday.

Banks added eight goals in two matches last week, upping her season total to 13. She netted five at Washington Adventist for the third five-goal game of her career and then scored all three of the Lions' tallies during a 3-1 victory at Penn State Mont Alto on Saturday.

Banks, a three-time USCAA All-American and PSUAC Player of the Year, surpassed the 200-point mark for her four-year career in just her 53rd match Saturday. She now owns 206 points on 92 goals and 20 assists and is the second-leading scorer among active women's college soccer players at any level.

Ritz posted his second shutout of the fall in as many starts, turning away one shot in Brandywine's 3-0 victory at Mont Alto on Saturday. The win was the Lions' 37th-straight conference victory.

Ritz, who owns a 2-0 record, has yet to allow a goal this fall, stopping all six shots he has faced in four appearances.

Brandywine hosts Penn State Scranton for a soccer doubleheader on Wednesday beginning with the women's game at 2:00 pm. The men's game is slated to kick off at 4:00 pm.
