Brandywine Splits Day Two At PSUAC Crossover

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine fell in straight sets to Penn State DuBois (25-10, 25-16, 25-17), but rebounded to win its final match at the Penn State University Athletic Conference volleyball crossover, topping Penn State Beaver 3-1 (25-21, 23-25, 25-18, 26-24) at Penn State Fayette on Sunday.

Lauren Kelly (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) and Jade Maloney (Claymont, Del./Brandywine) tied for the team lead with six kills against DuBois, while Sullivan Stark (Middletown, Del./William Penn) recorded five kills and 10 assists.

Stark and Hannah Sarafinas (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) both produced three blocks. Maloney topped Brandywine with nine digs, while Becca Civera (Boothwyn, Pa./Chichester) tallied eight and Kelly amassed seven.

Brandywine fared much better, closing out its long weekend in western Pennsylvania with its first victory of the crossover event.

Kelly and Maloney combined for 27 of Brandywine's 34 kills as Kelly registered 14 and Maloney set down 13. Kelly also recorded five of the Lions' 10 aces.

Stark paired 19 assists with four blocks, while Julia Miles (Boothwyn, Pa./Chichester) added 10 assists and nine digs.

Defensively, Sarafinas produced six more blocks and Kelly paced all players with 17 digs. Sydney Stevens (Wilmington, Del./Alexis I. DuPont) registered 13 digs and Civera added 11.

Brandywine plays at home for the first time this fall on Monday against Delaware Valley at 7:00 PM.
