Brandywine Clinches PSUAC East Division On Senior Night

MEDIA, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine volleyball team locked up first place in the Penn State University Athletic Conference East Division on Senior Night as the Lions defeated Penn State Lehigh Valley 3-0 (25-14, 25-9, 25-13) Wednesday.

As the No. 1 seed in the PSUAC Tournament from the East Division, Brandywine (13-14, 10-0 PSUAC) will host the East Division's No. 4 seed on Wednesday, Oct. 24 in a quarterfinal matchup. The winner will advance to play in the semifinals at Rec Hall on Monday, Oct. 29, while the tournament championship is schedule for Oct. 30.

Brandywine cruised through the first two sets before rallying from six points down to claim the third and final frame. Sydney Stevens (Wilmington, Del./Alexis I. DuPont) provided five service aces during a 7-0 Brandywine run that put the Lions in front for good.

Stevens posted nine of the team's 26 aces, while Nicolette Napoleon (Springfield, Pa./Penn Charter) added eight and Becca Civera (Boothwyn, Pa./Chichester) recorded six. Napoleon collected a team-best 12 kills and Civera paced the defense with eight digs during the final regular-season home match of their careers.

Lauren Kelly (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) added eight kills, while Stevens totaled five kills and six digs.

Brandywine plays two matches at Penn State York on Saturday with the first match slated to begin at 12:00 PM.
