Brandywine Drops A Pair At Gwynedd Tri-Match

GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine dropped both matches of Gwynedd Mercy University's volleyball tri-match on Saturday afternoon, falling by identical 3-0 scores to the host Griffins and King's (Pa.).

Set scores against King's were 25-12, 25-16, 25-17. The Lions set team season-bests in kills (19), digs (51) and blocks (7).

Brandi James (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) collected 12 digs, a team high, along with four kills, while Amanda Floyd (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) chipped in with 11 digs and Gianna Anthony (Newtown Square, Pa./Sacred Heart Academy) added 10. Hannah Sarafinas (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) and Kira Thorne (Alconbury, England/Alconbury) both tallied three blocks.

Thorne also paced the Lions with six kills, while Rebecca Gonzalez (Clearwater, Fla./Washburn Academy) handed out 16 assists and recorded seven digs.

Sarafinas and Hope Coacher (Ardmore, Pa./Haverford) both provided four kills for the Lions against Gwynedd Mercy. Gonzalez coupled seven assists and two aces on offense with nine digs, defensively.

Anthony collected a team-best 11 digs and Floyd tallied nine digs, but the Lions fell to the Griffins by scores of 25-11, 25-12, 25-8.

Brandywine (0-4) continues its road trip Monday at Delaware Valley (7:00 pm).
