Brandywine Receives 14 USCAA Fall National Academic Team Awards

MEDIA, Pa. -- Fourteen Penn State Brandywine student-athletes representing all six fall sports were named to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association National Academic Team recently.

The USCAA All-Academic Team is awarded to student-athletes who have accumulated a minimum GPA of 3.50 entering the fall semester and reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at their institution.

Brandywine volleyball led the way with four honorees: senior Madison Swenson (Chadds Ford, Pa./Kennett), junior Amanda Floyd (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) and sophomores Mackenzie Kelly (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) and Dana Palmer (New London, Pa./Avon Grove).

Three members of both the men's and women's soccer teams earned recognition. From the USCAA national champion men's soccer team, sophomores Connor Lines (Philadelphia, Pa./Franklin Towne Charter), J.T. Holstein (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) and Kyle Reuter (York, Pa./Dallastown Area) were honored, while sophomores Olivia Esposito (Boothwyn, Pa./Chichester), Caitlin Kaiser (Hackettstown, N.J./Hackettstown) and Anyea Leaphart (Philadelphia, Pa./Prep Charter) received laurels.

From the cross country teams, sophomores Christian  Dzema (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) and Hannah Mummert (West Chester, Pa./Rustin) were selected. Junior Margaret Reynolds (West Chester, Pa./Westtown School) and sophomore Daniel Kile (Levittown, Pa./Prep Charter) represented the golf team.

Twelve of Brandywine's honorees were first-time selections, while Floyd and Reynolds earned their second USCAA National Academic Team awards.

Brandywine's 14 awardees matched Penn State Mont Alto for the highest total among Penn State University Athletic Conference campuses.
