Brandywine Cruises To 13-3 Victory

ASTON, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine baseball team rolled to a 13-3 non-conference victory over Clarks Summit University on Wednesday afternoon.

Nick Wright (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) had four of Brandywine's 15 hits, while driving in four runs and scoring three times. Cam Baughman (Oxford, Pa./Oxford), Mike DeGirolamo (Frederick, Md./Frederick) and Ryan Snyder (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) all collected two hits. Baughman and Snyder both crossed home three times, while Shawn Webb (Drexel Hill, Pa./Bonner-Prendie) and Evan Abegg (Commerce City, Colo./Prairie View) each knocked in two runs.

Jack Johnston (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) quieted the Defenders' bats for five innings before allowing his first hit with no outs in the sixth. Johnston earned his first victory during the first start of his career after striking out one and allowing three runs on three hits. Ty Coccia (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) fanned one during the final 1.1 innings.

Brandywine struck for four runs during the bottom of the third inning as Abegg and Wright delivered RBI singles. Abegg added an RBI in the fourth, while Wright and Webb pushed runs across with base hits to up the margin to 8-0.

Wright and DeGirolamo provided run-scoring hits in the sixth before the Lions finished off the scoring with a three-run seventh inning. Baughman doubled in a run and scored on Solomon Bayuk's (Media, Pa./Strath Haven) ground ball, while Jaylen Bryant (Brooklyn, N.Y./High School of Telecommunications) added an RBI single, plating Snyder.

Brandywine (19-10, 9-3 PSUAC) hosts Central Penn Thursday for Senior Night beginning at 7:00 PM.
