Brandywine Drops Home Finale To Scranton

MEDIA, Pennsylvania -- Penn State Scranton received a game-high 20 points from Hasiin Dixon and pulled away from Penn State Brandywine for a 71-57 victory on Sunday afternoon at the Brandywine Athletic Center.

Brandywine led 9-6 following a three-pointer from Cyrie Spencer (Sharon Hill, Pa./Academy Park) at the 15:50 mark, but was held without a field goal over the next seven minutes. Scranton used a 21-1 run during that time to build a 27-10 lead.

Chris Lyons' (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) three-point play brought the Lions within eight with 54 seconds left in the half. After a basket by Brandon Santana, James Fisher (Philadelphia, Pa./Upper Darby) made the score 39-30 at the half by sinking 1-of-2 free throws.

Amir Davis (Philadelphia, Pa./Walter Palmer Charter) narrowed the Lions' deficit to just five with 14:31 left, but another prolonged scoring drought allowed Scranton to push its lead back to 19 midway through the half.

The Lions would not get closer than 15 until the game's final seconds.

Fisher led Brandywine with 13 points, while Davis added 11. Spencer pulled down nine rebounds and scored seven points for the Lions, who were held to 31 percent shooting.

William Yancey produced seven points and a game-high 11 boards for Scranton. Scranton held a 44-37 edge on the boards and shot 45 percent from the field.

Brandywine travels to Penn State Schuylkill Tuesday at 8:00 pm.
