Barrouk Scores 1,000th Point In 85-66 Triumph

MEDIA, Pa. -- Senior Bryce Barrouk (Glen Mills, Pa./Rustin) became the seventh 1,000-point scorer in Penn State Brandywine men's basketball history and the Lions won their sixth-straight conference game Tuesday night, running away with an 85-66 victory over Penn State Lehigh Valley.

Needing 14 points entering the night, Barrouk netted his 1,000th point on a layup in traffic at the 13:54 mark of the second half. Barrouk, Brandywine's first men's basketball student-athlete to join the 1,000-point club since James Fisher reached the mark in 2017, finished the evening 9-of-13 shooting, pouring in 23 points. He also grabbed 12 rebounds, recording his eighth double-double of the year, while blocking four shots and dishing out three assists.

Brandywine, which has won six-straight PSUAC games for the first time since 2008, had the shooting touch from beyond the arc all night as the Lions connected for 14 triples, a season high, on 24 attempts. Leading the three-point barrage was Jordan Graves (Media, Pa./Strath Haven), who canned seven, one shy of a Brandywine single-game record. Barrouk buried four triples, while Jaden Kelly (Philadelphia, Pa./GAMP) knocked down a pair and Johnta Dunson (Philadelphia, Pa./Freire Charter) made one.

Graves produced a career night with 25 points on 9-for-15 shooting (7-10 3PT) and handed out five assists. Jamar Wright (Wilmington, Del./Conrad School of Science) added 13 points on 6-of-11 shooting.

Colin Hockenbrock (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth) set a career high by blocking six shots. As a team, Brandywine turned away 10 shots in total.

Overall, the Lions shot 46 percent from the field and registered assists on 17 of their 34 made baskets.

Brandywine led 38-36 at the half before errupting for a 16-0 surge, capped by a rare four-point play from Dunson, to open the second period. Lehigh Valley drew as close as 12 down, but a triple from Barrouk at the 12:15 mark ended all hopes of a comeback bid for the visitors.

Brandywine (8-12, 6-5 PSUAC) is right back in action Wednesday night against Alvernia at 7:00 PM.
