Brandywine Rallies Past Fayette 90-82

LEMONT FURNACE, Pa. – The Penn State Brandywine men's basketball team overcame an 11-point halftime deficit to win its seventh-straight Penn State University Athletic Conference game, topping Penn State Fayette 90-82 on the road Saturday evening.

The teams were tied 26-26 with 9:21 to go in the first half, but Fayette used a 12-0 run to build a double-figure lead. The hosts led by as many as 13 points late in the period before Dillon Jones' (Wilmington, Del./Hodgson Vo-Tech) just before the buzzer made the count 48-37 at the break.

Brandywine opened the second half with eight consecutive points to pull within three. Three minutes later, Bryce Barrouk's (Glen Mills, Pa./Rustin) three-pointer trimmed the Lions' deficit to just one. One possession late, Barrouk buried another triple that tied the score and began a run of seven-straight Brandywine points.

The Lions increased their lead to 11 points with less than nine minutes to play following two free throws from Vince Zulli (Schwenksville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) and a triple by Jamar Wright (Wilmington, Del./Conrad School of Science).

Fayette trimmed its deficit as low as five points with 3:39 on the clock, but three points from Barrouk and a layup by Colin Hockenbrock (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth) in the next 1:34 increased the Lions' lead back to double figures.

Barrouk made 10-of-16 shots from the field, including four three-pointers, for 28 points. He completed his double-double with a team-high 12 rebounds.

Johnta Dunson (Philadelphia, Pa./Freire Charter) and Hockenbrock both notched 16 points. Hockenbrock made seven of his eight shots from the floor, while Dunson added three steals. Jones collected nine points and four boards.

Brandywine caught fire from the field in the second half, shooting 76 percent (20-26) and made 53 percent of its field goal attempts overall during the game. Both teams shot 9-of-22 from beyond the arc and grabbed 34 rebounds.

Brandywine (9-13, 7-5 PSUAC) visits Penn State Beaver Sunday at 4:00 PM.
