Division II West Chester Downs Brandywine

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Penn State Brandywine men's basketball team wrapped up the non-conference portion of its schedule with a 99-49 defeat at NCAA Division II West Chester University on Friday night.

Vince Zulli (Schwenksville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) led the scoring effort for the Lions with 12 points on 4-of-5 shooting, while Johnta Dunson (Philadelphia, Pa./Freire Charter) and Jordan Graves (Media, Pa./Strath Haven) both tallied seven points.

Zulli also paced Brandywine with three assists and Colin Hockenbrock (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth) pulled in a team-best seven rebounds.

Brandywine made 26 trips to the free throw line, making 18, but was limited to just 25 percent shooting from the field. West Chester made 51 percent of its field goal attempts and knocked down nine three-pointers.

The Golden Rams opened up an 18-3 lead through five minutes, but Brandywine used a 7-0 run to pull within eight; however, that is as close as Brandywine would get as West Chester answered with eight-straight points.

West Chester built a 26-point halftime lead and netted the first seven points of the second half. The Golden Rams' lead remained above 30 points for the duration of the game.

Brandywine (9-15, 7-6 PSUAC) travels north for a matchup with Penn State Scranton on Saturday at 3:00 PM.
