Brandywine Tops Schuylkill 78-62; Completes Season Sweep

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa. – Four players scored in double figures as the Penn State Brandywine men's basketball team finished off a season sweep of Penn State Schuylkill by winning 78-62 on the road Monday night.

Brandywine ran out to a 26-13 lead through 15 minutes following a 17-4 run, aided by five points from both Jamar Wright (Wilmington, Del./Conrad School of Science) and Vince Zulli (Schwenksville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley).

The Lions' lead was as large as 17 points during the first half when Jordan Graves (Media, Pa./Strath Haven) buried a three-pointer with 61 seconds left and Brandywine entered intermission leading 37-23.

Graves knocked down another three-pointer with 17:15 to go in the second half, but those would be Brandywine's last points for more than five minutes. Schuylkill took advantage, scoring 12-straight points to slice the Lions' lead to just five.

Two minutes later, the hosts trimmed their deficit to four, but Colin Hockenbrock (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth) put an end to Schuylkill's momentum, converting a three-point play that began a run of eight-straight Brandywine points. Wright added a jumper and Zulli canned a triple as Brandywine's advantage swelled to double figures once again with less than 10 minutes to play.

Schuylkill continued to hang around; however, another three-point play finished by Hockenbrock at the 3:08 mark opened up a 14-point lead and baskets by Hockenbrock, Graves and Johnta Dunson (Philadelphia, Pa./Freire Charter) during the final 90 seconds helped Brandywine complete the victory.

Graves canned three triples and scored a team-best 15 points, while Hockenbrock and Bryce Barrouk (Glen Mills, Pa./Rustin) both tallied 14 points. Zulli also connected for a trio of three-pointers and added 11 points and Wright and Jaden Kelly (Philadelphia, Pa./GAMP) both tallied seven points.

Hockenbrock grabbed a team-best nine rebounds and blocked four shots, while Barrouk and Dunson both pulled in eight boards. Dunson also paced all players with six assists.

Brandywine shot 50 percent from the field and held a 40-36 edge on the boards. The Lions' reserves outscored Schuylkill's bench 29-2.

Brandywine (13-16, 11-7 PSUAC) wraps up the regular season on Thursday at Penn State Mont Alto at 8:00 PM.
