Brandywine Defeats Lehigh Valley; Reaches Fourth-Straight PSUAC Title Match

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Top-seeded Penn State Brandywine scored twice in a three-minute span late in the first half to take control and defeated No. 4 Penn State Lehigh Valley 4-0 in a Penn State University Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Tournament semifinal match Saturday night.

Brandywine's 13th shot of the first half found the back of the net off the foot of Dom Scrivano (Essington, Pa./Interboro), giving Brandywine a 1-0 edge with 3:45 to play in the opening half. Scrivano collected the rebound after Gavin Birch's (Media, Pa./Strath Haven) initial shot was turned away, and blasted in his seventh goal of the fall.

Just under three minutes later, Liam Pheiffer's (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) crossing pass was tapped in by Luke Segner (Cochranville, Pa./Octorara), doubling the Lions' lead before the break.

Brandywine will now set its sights on a fourth-straight PSUAC title and sixth in the last seven years. The Lions will face No. 2 Penn State Beaver Wednesday in State College at 6:30 pm for the championship. Brandywine owns a 1-0 home victory over Beaver just two weeks ago.

The Lions, who outshot Lehigh Valley 39-0, put the game away at the 68:46 mark, when Brandon Rochester (Chester, Pa./The Christian Academy) headed in the Lions' third goal of the match. Walton Tucker (Garnet Valley, Pa./West Nairobi School) capped the scoring, netting a goal late in the second half.

Brandywine goalkeeper went untested to record his seventh shutout of the year, playing all 90 minutes. Trevor Rockwell stopped 10 shots for the visitors.
