Brandywine Drops 8-1 Decision To Eastern

MEDIA, Pa. – Eastern University recorded an 8-1 victory over Penn State Brandywine in men's tennis action on Thursday afternoon.

Luke DeAngelis (Downingtown, Pa./Henderson) earned the Lions' lone victory in singles action, while playing in the match of the day. DeAngelis dropped the first set to Ryan Kratz 6-3, but battled back to force a third set by winning the second 6-4. DeAngelis outlasted Kratz 15-13 during the tiebreak, overcoming match point by winning the final three points.

Julian Pinder (Penns Grove, N.J./Penns Grove) also went to a deciding third set during his top-flight singles match. Pinder claimed the opening frame 6-4, but dropped the final two sets, 4-6, 8-10.

Denys Lytviak (Kyiv, Ukraine) earned five points during his singles match, but dropped a 7-5, 6-0 decision, while Yookang Nam claimed seven points, falling 6-3, 6-4.

Brandywine (1-6) will look to bounce back Sunday at Penn State Harrisburg (1:00 PM).
