Immaculata Tops Brandywine In Final Road Match

IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Penn State Brandywine men's and women's tennis teams were defeated by Immaculata during the squads' final road match of the spring on Monday. The Lion men fell 6-3, while the Brandywine women dropped an 8-1 decision.

The pair of Alexander Michael (Middletown, N.Y./Middletown) and Raj Mamidala (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) provided the Lions' first point of the day on the men's side. The duo claimed an 8-6 victory at No. 2 doubles.

Brandywine added two more points by winning a pair of singles matches.

Matteo Cousineau (Kennett Square, Pa./Unionville) claimed a 6-2, 7-6 victory at No. 3, while Raj Mamidala (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) earned a straight-set triumph by identical 6-3 counts during his sixth-flight singles match.

Michael won the first set of his No. 2 singles bout 6-4, but the Mighty Macs' Troy Watts rallied to win the final two frames 6-4, 10-6 to claim the match.

For the women, Samma Zahran (Brookhaven, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) produced a point for Brandywine, winning at No. 1 singles by scores of 6-3, 6-3. Madison Ferguson (Secane, Pa./Ridley) won three points at No. 3 singles, while Jackie Capers (Enola, Pa./East Pennsboro) won two games at No. 2.

Brandywine's men are back in action Wednesday against Williamson at 3:30 PM, while the women host DeSales at noon on Sunday.
