Four Brandywine Runners To Compete At USCAA Cross Country Championships

Penn State Brandywine will have four runners competing for national titles at the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Cross Country National Championship on Friday morning.

Christian Dzema and Jalin Haskins will represent the men's team, while McKenna Loney and Victoria Anyiam will run for the Brandywine women.

Dzema and Loney both earned all-conference awards during Brandywine's most recent race, the PSUAC Championships, on October 30. Dzema ran to his top 8K time of the year (30:50) to place sixth, while Loney debuted with a time of 27:52 in the women's 6K, also earning a sixth-place finish.

All four Brandywine runners posted personal-best times during the PSUAC Championships. Anyiam was the 12th women's runner to hit the finish line as she posted a time of 26:21. Haskins trimmed over five minutes off his personal-best time, crossing the line in 34:59.

For the fifth consecutive year, the USCAA National Championships will be run in Virginia Beach, Va., at the Military Aviation Museum. The women's 6K race begins at 10:00 AM, while the men's 8K race starts at 11:00 AM.

The top 14 finishers in each race earn all-American status. Brandywine has two all-Americans during its history as both Brian Abel and Catharine Mooney earned second team accolades during the 2019 season.

Since beginning the cross country program in 2011, 20 Brandywine women and 16 Brandywine men have qualified for the USCAA Cross Country National Championships.
