Brandywine Completes Goldey Beacom Classic In Wilmington

WILMINGTON, Del. -- The Penn State Brandywine cross country teams continued their fall seasons Friday morning at Carousel Park at the Goldey Beacom College Classic. The Brandywine men finished seventh in a field comprised almost entirely of NCAA Division II competition.

Darryl Osei (Glenolden, Pa./Bonner-Prendie) edged Kevin O'Neill (Morton, Pa./Springfield) for the Lions' top time of the day during the men's 8K race. Osei finished 31st with a time of 34:33, while O'Neill placed 32nd, clocking in at 34:36.

Jack McDougall (Glen Mills, Pa./Rustin) crossed the finish line exactly one minute after Osei. Tewahido Agonafir (Philadelphia, Pa./Academy at Palumbo) posted a mark of 38:21, while Abu Mattia (Yeadon, Pa./Penn Wood) ran to a time of 38:46. Christian Zita (Freehold, N.J./Colts Neck) finished his race in 44:46 and Jack Williams (Chadds Ford, Pa./Unionville) rounded out the Lions in 55:31.

Lauren Husain (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) represented the Brandywine women, placing 45th during the women's 6K run. She tallied a time of 30:06.

The University of Delaware won the women's team title, paced by individual medalist Grace Chesley, while Georgian Court University claimed the men's team championship. GCU's Kyle Spector was the men's medalist.

Brandywine will compete at the Penn State Abington Invitational next Saturday at Lorimer Park beginning at 9:00 AM.
