Meghan Ferry Selected To Academic All-Area Softball Team

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine's Meghan Ferry (Gloucester City, N.J./Gloucester City) was one of 11 local student-athletes named to the Academic All-Area Softball Team on Thursday.

The team is selected through voting by the 30 four-year institutions in the Philadelphia metropolitan area who take athletic and academic accomplishments into consideration when voting. In order to be eligible for Academic All-Area honors, an athlete must be in at least her second year at her current institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or better.

Ferry recently completed her third year as a psychology major at Brandywine with a grade-point average of 3.58. During the 2022-23 academic year, Ferry earned scholar-athlete laurels from the National Fast-Pitch Coaches Association and was selected to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team. In addition, Ferry earned USCAA National Academic Team and PSUAC All-Academic Team recognition.

On the field, Ferry was named most valuable player of the USCAA World Series as Brandywine celebrated its first-ever softball national championship in May. Ferry was homered twice to break the program's all-time home run record (21) and drove in nine runs during the Lions' four games at the USCAA World Series.

Overall, Ferry collected 24 hits, 38 runs scored and 28 RBI during 32 games this spring. She owns 101 career hits, along with 84 RBI and 127 runs scored, during her three-year career.
