Rees Named PSUAC And USCAA Hitter Of The Week

MEDIA, Pa. -- After recording the 100th hit of her career on Sunday, Penn State Brandywine's Karly Rees (Oxford, Pa./Oxford) was named Hitter of the Week by the Penn State University Athletic Conference and United States Collegiate Athletic Association on Tuesday.

Rees became the 11th player in Brandywine softball history to reach the 100-hit mark as part of a four-hit day in a doubleheader sweep at Penn State Hazleton.

Overall during the week, Rees hit .588 (10-17) with six extra-base hits, five RBI and five runs scored. In five games, she produced four multi-hit efforts, including a three-hit game in a win over Penn State Scranton on Friday.

Rees slugged her first home run of the season and collected three knocks and three RBI at Swarthmore on Thursday. She also produced two doubles and a triple, while scoring two runs at Hazleton Sunday.

This spring, Rees is hitting .300 with seven RBI and seven runs scored. For her career, Rees is a .384 hitter who has tallied 73 runs scored and 54 RBI.

Brandywine (11-5, 4-0 PSUAC) hosts Penn State Mont Alto Thursday at 3:00 PM.
