Lions’ Five-Game Winning Streak Ends At Schuylkill

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa. – Penn State Schuylkill put an end to Penn State Brandywine's season-high five-game winning streak, defeating the Lions 74-56 on Monday night.

Amanda Floyd (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) recorded team highs with 14 points, eight rebounds and seven steals, while Kaitlyn Johnson (Clifton Heights, Pa./Upper Darby) poured in 11 points. Amelia Brooks (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) added eight points and four rebounds and Hope Coacher (Ardmore, Pa./Haverford) and Sierra Diawara (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) each scored seven points.

Coacher's basket at the 4:01 mark of the first quarter made the score 12-6 in Schuylkill's favor, but would be Brandywine's final points of the opening period as the hosts built a 13-point edge.

Floyd knocked down back-to-back three-pointers and added a free throw to complete a four-point play, trimming the deficit to 19-13 early in the second; however, Brandywine endured another scoring drought, this one more than eight minutes, as Schuylkill raced out to a 35-16 edge by halftime.

Diawara knocked down two free throws and Johnson added a triple to bring Brandywine within 14 midway through the third, but Schuylkill answered with consecutive baskets and never let Brandywine get closer the rest of the way.

Brandywine was limited to 25 percent shooting, while Schuylkill made 45 percent of its shots and netted 48 points in the paint. Schuylkill claimed the rebounding battle, 46-33.

Brandywine (12-16, 8-10 PSUAC) closes out the regular season Thursday at Penn State Mont Alto at 6:00 PM.
