Amanda Floyd Receives First Team Academic All-American Award
MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine senior Amanda Floyd (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) was named First Team Academic All-American by the College Sports Communicators on Thursday.
Floyd joined 10 additional honorees on the College Division's first team and is one of two Brandywine student-athletes to be honored in 2022-23, along with Bryce Barrouk, who received his award on Wednesday.
With the addition of Floyd, Brandywine has had seven student-athlete receive the prestigious award. Among Penn State's 20 campuses that sponsor varsity athletics, only University Park and Behrend have produced more academic all-Americans than Brandywine.
A two-sport standout, Floyd earned First Team All-Penn State University Athletic Conference in both volleyball and basketball in 2022-23. A three-time all-conference basketball performer, Floyd also garnered her second basketball all-American award from the United States Collegiate Athletic Association, landing second team laurels.
On the basketball court, Floyd finished second in the PSUAC in scoring, averaging 18.1 points per game. She became the 11th 1,000-point scorer in Brandywine history in December and currently ranks fourth all-time in scoring with 1,302 points.
As a starter in all 23 matches, Floyd finished the 2022 volleyball season with a career-high 195 kills and as the team leader in blocks with 36. In three seasons at Brandywine, Floyd has produced 387 kills, 325 digs and 58 blocks.
A human development and family studies major, Floyd has earned a grade-point average of 3.80. She has earned two USCAA National Academic Team and three PSUAC All-Academic Team honors in both volleyball and basketball and was a CSC Academic All-District honoree in April.
