Floyd Paces Three All-Conference Standouts
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State Brandywine women's basketball senior Amanda Floyd (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) earned the third First Team All-Penn State University Athletic Conference honor of her career, while Athena Brombacher (Vacaville, Calif./Will C. Wood) received second team accolades and Anaiyah Allen (Lutz, Fla./Steinbrenner) was named honorable mention on Friday evening.
Floyd, who earned the fourth all-league selection of her career, averaged 17.3 points per game during her final season at Brandywine. She ranked fourth in the conference in scoring, while topping all PSUAC players by shooting 87.3 percent at the free throw line, more than 10 percentage points higher than her closest competitor. Floyd scored over 20 points in 10 of 26 games, including 31-point efforts against Penn State Wilkes-Barre and Penn State Greater Allegheny.
Also the second-leading rebounder on the team, Floyd averaged a career-best 8.3 boards per outing, the 14th-highest total in the PSUAC. Floyd produced eight double-doubles. She was also ninth in the conference in steals per game (2.5) and three-pointers (50).
The second-leading scorer in Brandywine history, Floyd completed her 110-game career with 1,753 points.
Brombacher finished her standout first season with the Lions as one of three rookies to earn all-conference awards.
A starter in all 26 games, Brombacher topped the team in rebounding at 9.2 boards per game and with 14 double-doubles. She served as the team's second-leading scorer at 11.7 points per game and in steals with 63.
The ninth-leading rebounder in the PSUAC, Brombacher finished the year strong with three 15-plus rebound games over the team's final four outings. She also poured in a season-high 20 points on February 3 against Penn State Wilkes-Barre.
Allen received her second honorable mention all-conference selection during three seasons at Brandywine. She posted 10.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.6 steals per game, while appearing in 24 contests for the Lions.
Allen, the Lions' fourth-leading scorer, opened the year with a season-high 21 points at Alvernia, one of two 20-point efforts during the season. She scored in double figures 11 times, while notching at least three steals on five occasions.
In addition, Sierra Diawara (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) received the John Fritz Sportsmanship Award. Named after former PSUAC Commissioner John Fritz, the sportsmanship award is given to one player from each team in the league who best displays the core values of the league and sportsmanship to teammates and opponents throughout the season. Diawara was the Lions' third-leading scorer, averaging 11.5 points per game, after knocking down a team-high 57 three-pointers.
