Mont Alto Sends Brandywine To First Conference Loss

MEDIA, Pa. -- The difference in the match was two second-half goals by Penn State Mont Alto as the visitors delivered Penn State Brandywine's first women's soccer conference defeat of the fall by a 3-1 score on Wednesday.

Brandywine also saw its 43-match conference unbeaten streak come to an end, which began during its inaugural season of 2015.

The Lions were first on the scoreboard when Jolyn Walleekendeh (Trainer, Pa./Chichester) netted her team leading eighth goal of the year after receiving a long lead pass from Olivia Esposito (Boothwyn, Pa./Chichester).

After Mont Alto found the equalizer during the 36th minute, the visitors went in front early in the second half when Erika Padilla found the back of the net at the 50:09 mark. Mont Alto added an insurance marker eight minutes later.

Kiiani Banks (Elizabeth, N.J./Elizabeth) made seven stops in net for the Lions, while Mont Alto keeper Jesime Freet stopped six shots. Walleekendeh recorded five of Brandywine's seven shots on goal.

Brandywine (2-2, 1-1 PSUAC) hosts Penn State Schuylkill Saturday at 2:00 pm.
