Brandywine Downed By Scranton 4-2

MEDIA, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine women's soccer team suffered a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Penn State Scranton on Tuesday afternoon.

Following a scoreless first half, Brandywine struck for the match's first goal at the 54:41 mark as Meltem Ozdemir (Carney's Point, N.J./St. Mark's) assisted on Jolyn Walleekendeh's (Trainer, Pa./Chichester) 11th goal of the season.

However, Scranton netted four consecutive goals beginning with Rachel Butler's game-tying strike less than three minutes after the Lions had taken the lead. Scranton went in front with 21 minutes to play in regulation and added two insurance goals during the final 10 minutes.

Jess James' (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) tally, her second of the season, with less than one minute to play provided the final count.

Alyssa Hanrahan (Clifton Heights, Pa./Upper Darby) stopped three shots for Brandywine, which held a 20-11 in the shot column, while Trinity Gammaitoni made 16 saves for Scranton. Walleekendeh and James both collected six shots on goal for Brandywine.

Brandywine (3-4, 2-3 PSUAC) visits Manor College Thursday for a non-conference matchup at 3:30 PM.
