Munn Leads Four Women’s Soccer All-Americans

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine sophomore Barbara Munn (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) was named Second Team All-American by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association on Thursday, while teammates Meltem Ozdemir (Carney's Point, N.J./St. Mark's), Olivia Esposito (Boothwyn, Pa./Chichester) and Jolyn Walleekendeh (Trainer, Pa./Chichester) all landed honorable mention laurels.

Munn started seven games on defense for a Brandywine back line that produced three shutouts during those contests. Brandywine's defense finished 14th overall in the USCAA in goals-against average and tied for seventh in shutouts.

Offensively, Munn, an honorable mention all-conference selection, contributed an assist in a season-opening win over Valley Forge and 10 shots on goal.

Ozdemir completed her senior season tied for second on the team in scoring with four goals and five assists for 13 points. Her five helpers matched Esposito for the team lead and were tied for 10th-most nationally.

A two-time First Team All-Penn State University Athletic Conference selection, Ozdemir recorded a career-best seven points with three goals and one assist against Valley Forge to open the season. She finished her 46-game career with 10 goals, 10 assists and 30 points.

Esposito, a starting midfielder in all 11 matches this fall, posted 11 points on three goals and five assists. A first team all-conference selection, Esposito recorded a two-goal game in a win over Penn State Beaver on Oct. 16 and a two-assist performance against Valley Forge to open the season. Overall, she registered at least one point in five matches.

Walleekendeh ranked seventh in the USCAA in scoring during her freshman season. She totaled 30 points as she collected a team-best 14 goals and two assists. Her 14 goals tied for sixth-most among USCAA women's soccer players. Walleekendeh, who earned First Team All-PSUAC accolades, scored goals during the first eight games of her career.

She debuted with a four-goal effort at Valley Forge and also registered two-goal games against Penn State Scranton, Penn State Beaver and Penn State Schuylkill.
