Brandywine Posts Sweep In Conference Opener

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa. – The Penn State Brandywine volleyball team earned a straight-set victory during its Penn State University Athletic Conference opener Tuesday night, sweeping host Penn State Schuylkill 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-18).

Offensively, Mackenzie Kelly (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) posted a team-best seven kills, while Amanda Floyd (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) tallied five kills and Jordan Thompson (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) added five kills and three aces.

Madison Swenson (Chadds Ford, Pa./Kennett) collected 23 of the team's 26 assists and Sydney Stevens (Wilmington, Del./Alexis I. DuPont) produced a team-best four aces. Stevens added eight digs and Swenson totaled five.

Recording a match-high 11 digs was Suzie Alvarenga (Fullerton, Calif./Notre Dame Academy). Brandywine produced 10 blocks, paced by Thompson's four (three solo). Laura de Jesus (Santo Domingo, D.R./New Horizons) registered three blocks.

Brandywine (2-1, 1-0 PSUAC) continues conference play Thursday when it host Penn State Lehigh Valley for its first home match of the fall at 7:00 pm.
