Brandywine Outlasts York 3-1

YORK, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine rebounded from a September loss to Penn State York by defeating York 3-1 (25-22, 18-25, 25-20, 25-23) on the road Wednesday night in Penn State University Athletic Conference volleyball action.

With the victory, Brandywine moved into a tie with York for the East Division lead as both teams own one conference loss.

The Lions received a team-high nine kills from Jordan Thompson (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley), while Anna Ramirez (Exton, Pa./Downingtown East) posted eight kills, 11 digs and seven assists. Laura de Jesus (Santo Domingo, D.R./New Horizons) added six kills and both Amanda Floyd (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) and Dana Palmer (New London, Pa./Avon Grove) tallied five kills.

On the defensive end, Suzie Alvarenga (Fullerton, Calif./Notre Dame Academy), this week's PSUAC Player of the Week, registered a match-best 21 digs. Madison Swenson (Chadds Ford, Pa./Kennett), named USCAA Setter of the Week on Tuesday, collected eight digs, while Leilu Campbell (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) and Sydney Stevens (Wilmington, Del./Alexis I. DuPont) both recorded seven. Floyd and de Jesus each produced four blocks.

Brandywine (9-3, 8-1 PSUAC) faces Rutgers-Camden Thursday night at 7:00 pm.
